Rosa Serrano-Herrera
Teacher
I became an educator because I believe in the power of education to transform lives and open doors for students. As someone who has benefitted from dedicated teachers, I want to provide that same encouragement and support so that all students feel seen, valued, and capable of reaching their goals.
Prior to Equitas, I became the first in my family to earn a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. I also worked as a Spanish teacher and instructional coach, where I had the opportunity to design engaging curriculum, support teachers across multiple sites, and help students succeed in Spanish language and AP courses
I chose Equitas because I’m inspired by Equitas’ commitment to educational equity and its belief that all students deserve access to a high-quality education. I value the collaborative culture and the focus on growth—for both students and educators.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing soccer, and practicing martial arts. I also love exploring different cultures through food, music, and language.
