I became an educator because... I believe in the power of knowledge to change lives. Growing up, I saw how education could open doors, build confidence, and break cycles of limitation. Teaching allows me to be part of that transformation for my students just as it was for me.

Prior to Equitas, I... worked for years as an educator in Tennessee specializing in teaching ELA and Writing. My introduction to California was by being a first generation college student at University of Southern California.

I chose Equitas because... of the commitment to community and diversity that Equitas has. I believe in the power of community and the power of sharing diverse perspectives and experiences. I’m proud to be a part of a school culture that supports and empowers scholars to not only be but also thrive in being their authentic selves.

Outside of school, I enjoy... reading books, cooking southern food, hiking, walking, exploring Los Angeles, and being an Auntie to 10 awesome nieces and nephews.
