I became an educator because… receiving a good education opens up so many possibilities and options for one’s future. I enjoying helping students on their learning journey and helping them see what they are capable of achieving.
Prior to Equitas, I… graduated from The University of Tennessee with a major in Animal Science. After graduation I joined the Peace Corps and worked as a Health Educator in Eswatini for two years. Next, I worked as a veterinary assistant for several years in Nashville, where I’m from. Then, I moved to Beijing, China where I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for 5 years. Finally, I moved to LA a couple of years ago to teach science through Teach for America (TFA). Now that my TFA service is complete, I’m excited to continue my science journey with Equitas!
I chose Equitas because… the Equitas vision aligns with my own values and impact I want to have as an educator. The people are all truly invested in the work, goals of student success, and creating positive change wherever possible.
Outside of school, I enjoy… playing beach volleyball, traveling the world, exploring and trying new things, but most of all spending time with my cat.
