Nicholas Whaley
Teacher
I became an educator because I draw inspiration from Robert F. Kennedy's words: "Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance" (Day of Affirmation Address, Robert F . Kennedy). With dedication and hard work, I am committed to contributing to the creation of a brighter future by inspiring students to become voices for the oppressed.
Prior to Equitas, I worked as an English Teacher for 7 years throughout Southern California. Before entering education, I worked as an ATM technician and also served as the lead player analyst for Team SoloMid (TSM), where I developed strong problem-solving and analytical skills that continue to shape my work as an educator today.
I chose Equitas because of its commitment to equity and excellence. I wanted to be part of a school community that believes in uplifting every student, challenging them to grow, and preparing them to be leaders and change agents in their communities.
Outside of school, I enjoy participating in Judo and supporting my two daughters in their activities, from judo to dance to gymnastics. I also love spending quality time with my wife, especially going to the theater as a season pass holder at the Hollywood Pantages. In addition, I’m an avid gamer and compete at a high level, ranking in the top 1% in both League of Legends and World of Warcraft.
