Ms. Davis is excited to join the Equitas team because she passionately believes in our promise to guide our students to and through college. She believes that every child is capable of greatness when given the tools to succeed. She studied English Literature at Ithaca College in upstate New York, where she worked as a writing tutor for three years. After graduation, she began teaching sixth through eight grade English Language Arts in East Harlem, NYC. There, she founded the after-school drama program, and learned more from her students than she ever could have imagined. After earning her Masters of Science in the Art of Teaching from Fordham University (and surviving a lifetime of long winters), she decided to head out west and landed in sunny Los Angeles, where she taught sixth-grade English Language Arts at a charter school in Inglewood. This year, she is thrilled to begin working with the Pico-Union community. When not reading books, teaching books, or talking about books, she can be found hiking, cooking and finding new restaurants to try.
