Upcoming Projects - 1612 W Pico Blvd

Welcome to the website for the new permanent home for Equitas Academy #5 and Equitas Academy #6. Please explore this site for information on the project and ways that you can show your support for the growing Equitas family!

  • The proposed project site is located at 1612 W. Pico Boulevard, just off S. Union Ave.

  • Together, Equitas Academy #5 and Equitas Academy #6 will serve 1,000 elementary school students in the Pico Union neighborhood. The campus will include 38 classrooms, a multi-purpose room, an outdoor play area, and vehicle and bicycle parking.

  • In addition to the reuse of an existing building structure, the environmentally sustainability features will include WaterSense-labeled plumbing fixtures and Energy Star-labeled appliances, reduction of indoor and outdoor water use, weather-based controller and drip irrigation systems, and water-efficient landscape design.

  • Safety is our number one priority.  The primary school entrance and student drop-off and pick-up areas will be located in the alley behind the school, away from traffic on Pico Boulevard.

    • We have conducted an extensive traffic study to ensure that Equitas Academy #5 and Equitas Academy #6 will not substantially impact traffic in the neighborhood. The traffic circulation area has been designed to maximize the number of cars queuing onsite during pick-up and drop-off to prevent traffic congestion.

  • At this time, Equitas has submitted an entitlement application to the City of Los Angeles. The application is currently under review by the Department of City Planning. For more  details on the project click HERE.

  • Equitas Academy is rooted by its mission to foster a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to one day graduate from four-year colleges and universities.

  • Equitas Academy Creed, “We believe in our ability to grow, make a difference, and transform our future.”

  • Equitas has been part of the Pico Union community for more than a decade. We are dedicated to continuing to uphold the Equitas mission and serving our Pico Union students and families. Equitas Academy is grateful for the continuous support and commitment of all our parents and families to our ongoing collective success!
