My name is Miguel Arias and I am a school psychologist. I am excited to work at Equitas Academy because I strongly believe that one hundred percent of our students can graduate from high school and attend college with success. I strongly feel that with the education they will be receiving at Equitas, they will have the resources needed to become leaders in the community. As a school psychologist, my job duties include completing psychoeducational assessments for those students that might need additional support in special education, providing counseling support, consultation with teachers and administrators, and conducting interventions on students needing additional support. I recently completed my internship in school psychology at Downey Unified School District. My responsibilities as a school psychologist intern included all the duties listed above except that I was still a graduate student and under close supervision by a mentor. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Fullerton. Completion of my graduate studies at Loyola Marymount University granted me a master’s degree in Educational Psychology and an Education Specialist degree in school psychology. I also earned a pupil personnel services (PPS) credential in school psychology. Additionally, I am on the board of Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP). In my spare time, I enjoy engaging in fitness activities such as weightlifting and running.
