In 2019 Equitas Academy, Equitas Academy #2, Equitas Academy #3 were named some of the top public schools in Los Angeles County by a report published by Innovate Public Schools and by the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and the USC Rossier School of Education.
- Equitas Academy was named a 2016 Gold Ribbon School by the California Department of Education. The California Gold Ribbon Schools Award was created to honor schools in place of the California Distinguished Schools Program, which is on hiatus while California creates new assessment and accountability systems.The Gold Ribbon awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. We are honored to be among the schools that earned state-wide recognition.
- In March 2016, Equitas Academy Charter Schools was named one of the top ten schools in the Los Angeles area closing the achievement gap for low-income students. Read more about our exciting recognition here.
- The 2016 Hart Vision Leader of the Year was given to our Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Malka Borrego.
- Equitas Academy Elementary School was named a California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education in the 2013-2014 school year. The Distinguished Schools Program focuses on schools that provide rigorous and equitable education for all students, demonstrate educational innovation, and make significant progress in closing the achievement gap. We were excited to highlight our data-driven instructional practices and parent participation as two of our signature practices, and we are honored to be among the schools that earned state-wide recognition.
